  • Back and bra folds
  • Knees
  • Gynaecomastia (sometimes referred to as “man boobs”)

It is important to note that Aqualyx is not intended for weight loss purposes, and the treatment area must have good blood supply. As a result, individuals with a significant overhang of loose skin may not be suitable candidates.

Aqualyx is not suitable if you:

  • Have diabetes
  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have active skin problems in the area to be treated
  • Are taking blood-thinning medicine e.g. warfarin

The required number of Aqualyx treatments varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. For small areas, such as under the chin, typically 1-3 treatments are needed, while for larger areas such as the thighs, 3-6 treatments may be required. The treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and the results can be seen approximately 6 weeks after the final treatment. It is important to note that the results may vary from person to person, and multiple treatments may be necessary for optimal results as the results are accumulative. Aqualyx comes in 8ml vial, maximum recommended doses (4 x 8ml vials for one area in one session). Treatment can be repeated every 4-6 weeks up to 8 times.

The results are permanent. However, if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle, your body may gain weight in other areas where fat cells remain.

Following an Aqualyx procedure, the treated area may experience redness, swelling, and bruising. It is common for the skin to feel sunburned for a few days post-treatment due to inflammation in the fat cells. Patients receiving Aqualyx injections for a double chin may experience more pronounced swelling, requiring up to 72 hours of downtime. Hydrating with 1 to 2 litters of water per day is crucial for proper lymphatic drainage.

To prevent loose skin in individuals with poor elasticity and collagen, wearing compression garments such as spanks or stockings can aid in lymphatic drainage and help with elasticity and collagen. Massaging the treated area can also help alleviate swelling. After 4 to 6weeks, patients may opt to undergo another cycle of treatment to further reduce fat in the targeted area.

Aqualyx is an injectable solution that targets and eliminates stubborn pockets of excess fat in certain areas of the body and face. It contains deoxycholic acid, a substance found in bile that aids in fat digestion. By injecting Aqualyx into fatty areas, the fat cells are broken down and the fat is liquefied form for removed through your lymphatic drainage and through the liver and excreted from the body.

Common reaction side effects include

Swelling, bruising, itching, pain, discomfort, sensitivity to pressure and excessive warmth at the injection site are possible side effects, but they typically subside within three to five days. In some cases, it may take a few weeks for these symptoms to disappear.

Very rare adverse side effects include

dizziness, allergic reaction, and permanent redness of the skin, hyperpigmentation, lumps or dents in the treated area and permanent damage of nerve tissue as well as inflammatory reactions and infections that may result in irreversible scarring.

After receiving Aqualyx treatment, the treated area may appear swollen, red, and miner bruising pain and the skin may feel like it has been sunburnt for a few days. This is because Aqualyx causes an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells, which can lead to swelling that typically lasts around 3-5 days.

If your skin has poor elasticity, it may appear saggy or wrinkled. Aqualyx is suitable for individuals with good skin elasticity so that their skin can bounce back to its original shape after the fat has dissolved. However, if your skin has poor elasticity, it may result in sagging skin after the fat has been dissolved in the treated area.

To avoid further sagging of the skin you can wear compression garments like spanks or stockings (depending on the area treated)

After your Aqualyx® fat dissolving treatment, please avoid applying cosmetics to the treated area for at least 12 hours. Direct sources of heat and radiation such as sunlight, UV radiation, and saunas should also be avoided. Additionally, refrain from engaging in strenuous physical exercise for 7 days as Aqualyx can get eliminated from the pores.

In certain cases, the removal of fat from a specific area may result in loose skin. To avoid sagging of the skin you can wear compression garments like spanks or stockings (depending on the area treated) and we can utilize RF Microneedling or Plasma Pen to tighten the skin. To deal with loose skin, we can alternate between injections and RF Microneedling until we achieve the desired outcome.

Once the initial swelling has gone down, you may notice small lumps and bruises beneath the skin that can be massaged away and typically dissolve within 1 to 2 weeks. These side effects are usually not very noticeable, if noticeable at all, due to the small amount of solution needed for the face.

For the abdominal and body areas are 4-6 Aqualyx treatments are recommended but this depends on how much fat deposit you may have in that area, treatments are spaced 6 weeks apart. You may start to see noticeable results after 2-3 sessions. Once you complete the recommended treatments, you can expect to enjoy permanent results.

The procedure has potential benefits and risks and results may vary with each individual and in rare cases the desired results may not be reached.
