Common Skin Concerns: Stretch Marks
Overview
What are stretch marks?
Stretch marks effect male and female and they occur when the skin is stretched too quickly. They appear long, narrow streaks or stripes. They start off red and then turn pink.
When they are red and pink this means it still has blood supply, but over time they start to go white as the blood supply starts decreasing to the stretch mark.
Stretch marks should be treated as soon as they appear as this can give you the most successful result, due to the blood supply being present.
The most common areas affected include:
- Abdomen
- Breasts
- Hip
- Flank
- Buttocks
- Thighs
- Arms
- Arms pit
